The movies that have the best lessons in life, in my opinion, are listed below. I recommend you see them and extract the value from them (the moral of the story, the essential truth, what worked).
The movies that aren't true are the ones that perpetuate the cultural myths, such as dramatizing stardom, luck, your being saved by finding the love of your life, being some ideal, heroism, sin, violence, etc. Those are stimulating to us, but if we believe that they are based on true principles of what works in life, then we create living a life based on unreality and we create suffering and struggle.
Even in the more grounded movies I am recommending, elements of cultural myths must be seen for what they are and stripped away, leaving only the essential core value in the film.
THE KEY MOVIES (Access through netflix or some movie service.)
The Bucket List
The other ones that are key are listed below, but I have bolded the ones I would prioritize.
BIOGRAPHIES
Biographies of people who have succeeded greatly (but separate out the imbalances and see what kind of thinking added to their power to produce a happy, effective life and the desired results.) This is a partial list, so you need to keep your eye out for biographical movies.
Netflix has a few that are identified as biographies but you have to look through the rest of the movies to find others. Documentaries is a genre to look through. Pick famous people and enter them in the search engine.
Gandhi
DOCUMENTARIES
Christopher Reeve: Hope In Motion
