The following is a "summary grounding" to give you an overview that is necessary for you to get the most out of the other materials on this site. If you don't buy these and you don't understand that you are responsible for creating it all, you don't have much of a chance of being highly happy in life. You can click on the links if you wish to go into this more deeply, but you should read the piece completely first, and then go back and click on what you need further detail on.

An old bit of sage advice is that if you want to succeed at something, find out what the people who succeed at it did - and then do the same thing.
Yet, somehow, people think they can succeed at something without going through that process. Or they want to be a certain way, yet they don't do what is necessary to achieve that.
Strange.
They seem to not acknowledge (or be aware of) the "laws" and therefore do not follow them (or make up their own!).
Know these and obey them and you will have what you want.
(The actual law of cause and effect, in more detail, is here.)
Everything, without exception, occurs in a chain of causes and effects.
There is a cause for every effect.
If you do that cause, you will get that effect, period.
Or, if you see an effect of a certain type, you can trace it back to a cause related to getting or not getting the desired effect.
Simple math.
If you aren't getting what you want, then you're not doing what's necessary to cause the desired result.

The Bible: "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Also called the Law Of Farming.)
Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The Law Of Compensation: For whatever you do in life, you will receive equal measure."
This is a reflection of the fact that you are responsible for creating all that is in your life from whatever you were given. See Bad Past, Good Life for those who were given what might seem to be damning, but who created heaven from it.
THE LAW OF CLARITY
"If you do not clearly specify what it is you want, you are unlikely to get the results you want." (Don't depend on luck or on being rescued!)
If it is not written, then the likelihood of achieving it drops dramatically. (This is proven, not conjecture. Do not impose an alternate belief over this reality.)

THOUGHTS ARE CAUSES
"Thoughts are causes, and conditions are effects."
What you have in your life reflects what you have done in life.
If you have "poor", dysfunctional, and/or untrue thoughts, you will create corresponding conditions.
Epictetus: "Crcumstances do not make the man; they merely reveal him to himself."
A sub-law says that when you are under stress, your true thoughts (beliefs) about how to handle something show up in your behavior. If that behavior does not produce the results you want, you must change your belief to what will produce the results you want - and then do the behavior that corresponds.
"Your behavior indicates your beliefs."

THE LAW OF EXPECTATIONS
"What you believe, you can achieve."
If you have something that is realistically achievable and you believe you can achieve it, you will.
So, if you're clear on what you want and what it takes to make it happen (not everything, but the essentials) you will set your mind and your attitude to seek out and find all that is necessary to bring that goal into reality.
Anything that is achievable has a way for it to be achieved. You just have to do what it takes to follow the path. This is what I call Realistic Hope, whereas many people rely on unrealistic wishful thinking/hope. Note that "hope" is a positive emotion, which clears the way for positive motion.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
This is a law stated in a metaphorical manner, as if you are a magnet attracting something to you.
This also corresponds to another term that is often used in a metaphorical or even magical way. Synchronicity is simply having things happen in your favor much more often than would be suggested randomly. The reason this happens is because your brain is "looking" for those things that will help you get what you are focused on and wish to achieve. Your awareness is keyed into that.
In order to use this law, in its actual reality, you must keep the thoughts around what you want on "top of the mind", i.e. always dominantly there, ready to match up to anything that is a good match. (See also The Power Of Directed Attention.)
If you have bad things or feel badly about life, it is simply because you are filling your mind with dominant thoughts that are negative, unworkable, and often harmful. And you are the one responsible for that, as you are the one who gets to choose the thoughts that become dominant in your mind.
The law of attraction is not:
I think of what I want --> I get what I want
positively, vividly
It actually has a necessary addition of energy put forth out there in the real world, known as doing a behavior.
I define what I want --> I target what I want --> I do what is necessary --> I get the result.

INPUTS CAUSE OUTPUTS; YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MOST OF THE TIME
Since the source point, the cause itself, is always a thought, you "become what you think about most of the time." You create who you will become and the results you want based upon having the appropriate thoughts on your mind so often that they become virtually programmed in (actually creating a physical rewiring of the brain).
Since the source/cause of it all is your thoughts, if you want to have a great life you must master your thoughts and create great inputs that help you do so. You must create true beliefs and you must input good information - and do what is necessary to maintain the necessary Positivity Ratio, which is physically in the real world totally doable.
'Tis best you not violate the old computer law: "Garbage in, garbage out." Bad inputs in bad outputs. Good inputs in good outputs.

THE LAW OF MAGNIFICATION
A thought is a combination of neurons firing off in a particular pattern, using a certain amount of energy (actually electricity). The hippocampus in the brain will remember (imprint) something much more strongly if there is extra energy attached to it. For instance a memory based on a traumatic event will be much stronger than a so-so happening, which the brain may even discard from memory so that it has room for more important things. Those of us who were alive when Kennedy was shot remember exactly where we were and how we felt, because of the "importance" we put on it - it has more of a charge.
One discipline in fact uses an electrical meter to determine what thoughts have more of a charge, so it can prioritize getting rid of the high charge on a negative event or belief. The same principle is used in a lie detector machine.
The point here is that we can increase the charge of a thought by adding "importance." Note that the biggest "charge" is often on items that involve our potential non-survival or great physical harm, which would make sense. That big charge occurs whether the threat is real or not - if we think it is, then the charge occurs - this is why we need to reexamine our beliefs in order to determine whether there is a real threat and if there is whether it is important or small - the skill to tell the difference is vital to living a good life - if you don't acquire this skill, you will not live a good life.
See It's Almost All "Deminimus". Note that a person reinforcing the negative will go into a downward spiral, losing more and more control as the negative emotions are hyped. However, a person who is reinforcing the positive will go into a positive upward spiral, which will automatically add more energy (its self-feeding) and, also very importantly, add more ease. An example of magnification is a person who was "hurt" by someone she had very little contact with and experienced the loss as being a "50" on the scale of impact because she had no other friends (this is the magnification factor) - ordinarily this would be about a "1" or less in a realistically neutral view.
So we want to minimize negative charges and to maximize positive charges.
We add charge to something when we:
Simply declare it is important.
Sign a contract or do some form saying you "hereby commit" to doing what is
necessary.
Write something down.
Repeat something. (We're sending an electric charge down the pathway many
times, wiring it in more strongly.)
Plan it out and/or spend time "figuring it out".
We have more realistic hope about it, especially when we get "what to do" from
a successful person.
Visualize getting a benefit from it in the future, the more detail, the stronger the
charge.
Visualize and create in writing what the "best result" could be, visualize this and
then work backwards to say what you did to create that. This is what people
do when they write themselves a "letter from the future", saying how they
feel and what is occurring and telling how they were able to create getting
there.
Note that simply talking about the past, especially the reason why you became so screwed up or had bad things happen, will magnify the negative and put a downward spin on life - even though many people think they can do this without any impact (that is never, ever true). Therefore, one should talk about the negative in the past very, very seldomly and only when it is for a progressive purpose (such as learning from something so that you don't repeat it and/or re-working a dysfunctional belief).

THESE ARE TRUTHS AND INVIOLABLE LAWS
If you violate the law of gravity, you get immediate definite feedback. If you violate these other laws, sometimes the feedback is not as definite (unless you really look at it) and often not immediate. Nevertheless, believe them, for they are true - and you should not violate them or you'll get the consequences.
If you do not believe these truths and/or you argue against them, you will impede and/or most likely stop your progress in any coaching or other progressive process. Or, as they say: "If you argue for your limitations, and sure enough they're yours."
