Famous later words, as it all begins to happen:

If only I would have known when I was younger!

Don't let anything stay out of balance or in tired condition.

Stuff WILL happen later if you do those things that tend to cause them!!!  All of what will happen as we get older is predictable and almost completely controllable!!!

Do this and you'll live long and prosper!

Take this checklist, filled in, to your doctor when you go in.

Monitoring and checking

__ Yearly complete physical (don't let yourself get outside the guidelines in Physical Monitoring
    Sheet)

Heart, general health

__ Keeping BMI (body mass index) at 22, never over 24, period.
__ No more than 15 minutes in direct sunlight on skin
__ Enough sleep, rest
__ Maintain cholesterol, LDL under 100, HDL over 40.
__ Keep inflammation limited in body, C reactive protein measured and in good range
__ High vegatable consumption, good fruit consumption
__ Limit artificial stimulants and self-medicating
   __ Virtually no alcohol
   __ Very limited coffee
   __ Very limited use of "calming" pills

Eyes

__ No strain, situational or work
__ No unbalanced light when watching tv
__ Sunglasses, polarized - Even wear them in shade around sun

Cancer

__ No ups and downs in sugar or with refined carbs
__ No bad fats (fried, hydrogenated fats, transfats)
__ Low stress, managed very well

Musculoskeletal

__ No "out of balance" sport or exercise to balance it off
__ No repeated high impact sports (running included)
   __ Great cushioning in soles
__ No repeated joint abuse
   __ Use braces and supports to reduce the stress
__ Posture checklist is followed, with proper ergonomics (see this site)
__ Analysis by physical therapist (or other relevant specialist) to assure proper alignment
   so there won't be uneven wear and tear; correct as necessary
__ Don't sit too much.  Check for shortened back leg muscles, stretch them out.
__ See physician for any ongoing pain, before it exacerbates itself.

Teeth (central!)

__ Extra credit for brushing after each meal
__ Full flossing; at least power squirter (Waterpik waterflosser works!)
__ Tongue cleaning actually prolongs life

Sinus

__ Keep clear; don't let it get stagnant!
   __ Hot soaks to free up
   __ Nasal cleaner [Neti Pot, aspirator, nasal hydro pulse (Waterpik), NeilMed]

Sewage System

__ Plenty of water
__ Move all the muscles, fairly frequently (more blood flow removes toxins)


AVOID THESE COMMON AILMENTS

The idea is to avoid the common ailments of getting older:

Heart
Cancer
Hip, knee replacement
Arthritis (minimum)
Degeneration of disks
Melanomas (from too much sunburn earlier in life!), skin cancers
