THE HARMFUL BELIEFS

Harmful beliefs are those that are 1) not true and 2) which cause poor results,  in terms of outcomes, stress and/or "bad" feelings that are not useful.  Allowing them to repeat is harmful and foolish.

Many beliefs are based on other "fundamental" beliefs that are not true.  Unraveling the "base belief" will automatically eliminate the others in general, though in some cases some repetition may be needed to clear out the old beliefs.

Although you may have to come back to this, it might be better to start with the beneficial beliefs, as, for the most part, they are just the opposite of the harmful beliefs.  (See Beneficial Beliefs Directory, Links.) 

Enter the relevant term into the search engine to find the item and to fix the belief.  There are lots of them, but I have not chosen to go through the laborious process of linking each one of them.

THIS IS NOT THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE



I DON'T HAVE THE POWER (I CAN'T)
    I am weak, powerless
          I can't control my future
              I can't adjust to bad outcomes
    Overcome my impulses, chemistry, mind
    I can change (lose weight, exercise, focus, etc.)

    I AM DEPENDENT ON OTHERS
         I am a child (or partially one)   
         I must have approval (so that I can "get")
               I can't stand rejection
         I am not worthy
             I am flawed

UNDUE POWER ATTRIBUTED TO OTHER SOURCES

    Thoughts are real.
    Mysterious forces control me.
    My mind controls me.
    Other people have power over me
    I am a prisoner of the past, it determines me.
    My past is real, existing, powerful


THERE IS A THREAT/DANGER (I'm in danger and I can't handle the bad outcome.)

    Exaggerated "size" of the threat

    There's something wrong (a "feeling")
