You can't get there if you don't travel down the whole road.
Self esteem is not the same as confidence, though confidence in oneself certainly creates self esteem.
If you don't get to the core, the very cause of low self esteem, you'll probably feel better but not really be cured of the core erroneous beliefs. (You can't solve a problem by solving the symptoms only, you've got to cure the cause.)
Affirmations by themselves are helpful but do not do the job, especially if you're still basically convinced of your erroneous beliefs. We want to affirm truth, but we want you to see why it is true so that you can believe that it is true. If you don't create the understanding of the logic and truth of it, then you haven't completed the job.
