HOMESTEAD SUPPORT PROBLEMS TO SOLVE
#3

Published here because I could not find another means to communicate, plus there does not seem to be a response to the other two pages I called attention to.

LIMITS AND HAVING TO ADJUST

Because of the problem discussed below ("memory problems) , I went ahead and went online to delete a resources\specificbyname\Barksdale\e  (the confirm delete file instruction cuts off there, but I believe it would probably be ebooksaudio or something like that).  When I tried to use the desktop sitebuilder it stopped at Confirm delete file - the published copy of this file has recently been deleted, would you like to etle the local copy?, I clicked on delete local copy and nothing happened (this is the second time I tried this as I had to shut down the computer to try to freshly do this anew.

So the problem is that I cannot get into the sitebuilder desktop to use it.  But I just went back into the data file on my computer and deleted that section and then re-loaded and the download worked, but the problems in the next section still persist.

What is the limit on what I can have in the sitebuilder desktop data????  I don't want this problem again, as I have to totally re-set up the files I deleted and put them on another site due to the undisclosed limits of your system. (Yes, the latter is a complaint about inadequate disclosure.)   Popping users back and forth between multiple sites could be a problem if I have to not use my main site for all of the files.

ONGOING PROBLEM, PLUS A NEW PROBLEM

I have been having a problem almost everyday now, with sitebuilder desktop not being able to download the files (we are unable to download...).  It said "may be memory" problem.  I had the computer examined by the computer consultant who set it up and there is no such problem.

A while back one of your people told me the software has not been updated since 1999 and they do not intend to update it - and that it was designed for only 1,000 pages and that it might not be able to handle it, or something like that.

I tried downloading my site thelifemanagementalliance.com on another computer figuring that the lack of existence of a current file might give me a nice clean copy of the published files, but it failed to solve the problem of three pages that downloaded or show up on the desktop differently than the one on the site.

I even used the online sitebuilder to copy one of the correct pages
(http://www.thelifemanagementalliance.com/LifeMgmt/OverallLM/ContentsLinksLifeMgmtSect.html), saving on a page with the same title but also FullCopy.  I then got into the desktop version on the two separate computers (at different times of course) and both had a bad copy that left out the text box upon which everything (the other text boxes) was placed.  There were also some missing text boxes on http://www.thelifemanagementalliance.com/LearnPlansFor/ContentsLinksLearnProgramsPlans.html, but I can't get into sitebuilder desktop to see it to tell you more about it.  (Of course, there could be other "different" pages that I didn't spot because they were not obvious.)

Is there a reason the file on the desktop is corrupted (or more accurately different and fails to reflect the website coding even on a directly copied page) and not reflecting the full coding?  (Why would this directly copied page, when downloaded and showing up in the desktop copy still have the same missing item???)

I tried to solve this by, in the desktop, deleting  the file for LifeMgmt/OverallLM/ContentsLinksLifeMgmtSect and then restarting the program, hoping it would load the file from the site, but it didn't.  (So now I am completely missing that page, though it is linked to from lots of other pages - so I need to restore it to the same title, assuming it would then work to be linked to - that is correct, right?.)

Do I have to reconstruct the pages on my sitebuilder?  Is there another alternative approach to get the correct copies from the site into the data base for the desktop:

Is there a trick to using the online version (which is really bad if I want to reorganize links!!!, or even just copying and pasting,  so I have to use the desktop version) and using the desktop version alternatively, ie alternating between the two when the other one is not up (or even if it is up, which is what I'd prefer, so I could work more flexibly?    Such as saving and publishing all files before leaving one version and using the other???
(This is what I believe I've been sure to do, plus not using the same file in both, always restarting between use.)
