VISUALIZATION
One of the steps recommending by leaders with substance, such as Brian Tracy, is to visualize what it will totally feel and look like when you've achieved what you want. It actually motivates the individual, as emotion is actually a potent force - see Managing The Mind section of Psychology.
One effect of visualizing something in a "positive" light is that one not only "feels" motivated but also one begins to create more of the details, as a part of the thinking process. It is a soundly based way of changing how you are anticipating a future event to turn out and how you feel about it. It is at the base of all success planning. One of the famous people who did was the champion golfer Jack Nicklaus. But almost all of the great philosophers and leaders in the field of being successful hold visualization as a vital component of creating success!
Use
Visualize-Feel - This is a way you can completely see how you'd "be" in a
particular way of being that you would like in order to get to the result you
want. It's a way of seeing how you will be when you achieve what you
visualize - or a way of creating who you want to be, period!
detal you can put into your visualization, to help you create it in reality!
The section from Life Planning:
PRACTICING AND RE-EDUCATING YOURSELF "IN YOUR IMAGINATION
To re-educate yourself in the vital skill of managing your emotions and your life, you will want to use Rational Emotive Imagery. The payoff is priceless - and the results are absolutely sure.
This is a way of creating a new future, one that cannot be created with any other process.
FRAMING AND SEEING AHEAD
VISION BOARDS (AKA TREASURE MAPS)
Some people consider this as corny, but the basic brain (read the Managing The Mind section of Psychology) responds well, plus it is a way of keeping these things on your mind so that you'll be more likely to choose them.
Read about it (on the internet) and use some of the formats suggested:
You can create an excellent, printable and savable "dream board" for free on Oprah's site. This is fun...and pretty darned fast... O-Dream.
